Today welcomes in the year of the Yang Water Tiger according to Feng Shui/Chinese Astrology.

Although I practice a Westernized version of Feng Shui, I find it helpful to understand the traditional energies and how they are shifting and changing so that I can go with the flow from year to year.  Here’s a quick summary of the new energies that are coming in and how you can embrace them for success in all areas of your life:

The characteristics of the tiger are powerful, courageous and adventurous.  The water element will add calm, flow and possible big emotions.  Sounds good to me, but I’ll skip the dose of big emotions please **

According to one of my Feng Shui mentors, it will be important to maintain clear and strong boundaries in the coming year, as well as remember to practice extreme (like a tiger waiting for prey) patience as you wait for what you’re wanting to land within reach.
(Patience isn’t one of my virtues, but I’m gonna give it a go!!)

Personally, I like to think of the lunar New Year as a chance to reset and fully launch into the year.

Truth be told, the first draft of my 2022 plan had me running my Align Your Home with Abundance webinar THIS WEEK.  Umm, that’s not happening.

I’ve already given myself grace and will open the doors next week instead.  I’m committed to not forcing anything and just going with the flow (like a good water tiger!).

As part of *not forcing* I’m also committed to lining up the energies to support me (aka do the work for me) this year.  One way I do this is with a good intentional cleaning and a Feng Shui refresh on the lunar new year.  Here’s what I have planned:

  • First up for deep cleaning is the refrigerator.  I’m cleaning out the leftovers, washing it down with some charged water and essential oils, and then filling it with some healthy, fresh and abundant feeling foods.  The refrigerator is a giant symbol of prosperity and abundance and keeping it clean, full and organized is a way to support more of that energy in my life.
  • Second up is the girls bathroom/guest bathroom.  This space is located in the Fame/visibility area of our house and I want to support that area a bit better as I show up as an expert in the work I do.  This area will get a good cleaning and I’ll add a few enhancements that support the fire energy needed for being seen in the best light.
  • Third, I’m going to clean out my purse and wallet and then add a little packet of sea salt to my wallet to keep the energy of the cash I keep clean and clear.  I may even stop at the bank too and get some crisp fresh bills to put in my wallet.  I love seeing cash in my wallet!  It’s the best feeling of safety and security and I’m calling in lots of that this year.
  • Last … you guessed it … I’ll show a little bit of LOVE to our front entrance.  The winter greens that are out front are still looking good but now they’re covered with snow so I’ll clean that off and shake out the frozen welcome mat!

I’ve also got a big bowl of fresh oranges in the kitchen.  During the Chinese New Year, oranges are displayed, eaten and gifted.  They’re a great symbol of luck and abundance.

If the New Year rushed by you, consider this lunar new year/Chinese New Year a great opportunity to pause and reset.  Choose a few intentional actions that will support the energy and prosperity that you’re calling in for the rest of this year and beyond.

Go get ‘em Tiger!! (Rawr!!)

Happy Feng Shui-ing,
